Nights in Summertime

With dew the summer nights are soiled
The city lights do shine with passion
The sky alive with sparkling treasures
Jewels that exceed any mortal fashion

Reflected upon the dark night water
A moon as bright as any star
A winding path, two lovers walketh
Both gaze up at the moon afar

Darkness enshrouds a fairy-tale valley
A breeze is apparent in the night
Cools the stifled heat aplenty
Mist makes this quite a charming sight

First glimmer of light dissolves the darkness
As dawn emerges from her sleep
And, as if to welcome a new day dawning
Cocks crow, frogs jump and rabbits leap.
